OSOYOOS PROMOTIONAL VIDEO A HIGH-QUALITY BOOST FOR TOWN

(OSOYOOS TIMES — Dec. 20, 2006) –

We had a chance a couple of days ago to see the recently completed video that will now be used to promote tourism and economic development for Osoyoos.
We can only say kudos! to the film's videographers and producers “ Allen Jones and Parker Jefferson of Vancouver-based Ace Film Company “ and to Glenn Mandziuk and his team at Destination Osoyoos for conceiving and carrying out this important project with such class and high production values.
We would urge everyone in town who has an interest, to try to get a chance to view the five-minute video.
The hundreds of quick-cut images paint a portrait of a vibrant town that is not only nestled in a beautiful natural setting “ it's also full of wonderful, active people who are making the town a dynamic and caring place in which to live.
And, thanks to some good planning, the video was shot in the latest high definition format, so it has the quality to be aired anywhere and is already proving to be in demand.
* * * On a less happy front, one of the aggrieved homeowners at the Desert Rose manufactured home community on the west side of town is pressing his case for compensation for the more than $20,000 he says he has spent to comply with the Town of Osoyoos rules requiring a cement pad for his home.
He argues the Town is inconsistently applying the rule. The whole thing is a bit of a mess, with early residents there not having to pour a pad and later residents being told they must.
The Town is valiantly trying to clear up the situation, but it looks like it will take a bit of ingenuity and possibly some cost to the Town, to fix the problem.
