NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS AND COMMUNITY HAVE WORK TO DO
OSOYOOS TIMES-November 26, 2008
Sincere congratulations to those Osoyoos residents elected or re-elected to office in the Nov. 15 municipal and regional elections.
And sincere congratulations to everyone who had the courage to run, whether you won or lost.
With the polling season over, it's time for our new mayor, council and rural Osoyoos Area A director to get to work to govern and properly manage our community for the next three years.
At the same time, it is our responsibility as the greater Osoyoos community to get to work as well.
It's up to us to make sure that the people we've put in office carry out the promises and platforms they pitched to us for several weeks prior to the election.
Many of us attended the all-candidate forums held at the Osoyoos Secondary School Mini Theatre at the end of October and the Osoyoos Times was diligent in providing as much information as possible about each candidate's platform leading up to election day.
So, we should all be well informed about what our newly elected officials have pledged to do and our duty as the electorate is to not only give them our support, but keep them honest by paying attention to what they do while making sure they stick to their promises.
