PLAY'S MUSIC DIRECTOR MUST GET CREDIT TOOrn

Editor:

Re: Article, Sound of Music hits Mini-Theatre Stage Nov. 27-29

I read with interest the article about The Sound of Music because I know several people involved in the production.

It is, indeed, a huge endeavour for the communities of Osoyoos and Oliver to take on.

It appears that all involved are working extremely hard and are not daunted by this undertaking, but are feeling the pressure for timeliness and a good performance.

I note that you omitted mentioning the music director, Lloyd Fairweather.

The Sound of Music is a musical production, so it seems that the director of music should be mentioned in conjunction with Ray Turner and Ted Osborne.

I have been involved with musical productions from these two communities in the past and am well aware of the efforts required to produce a musical in which not only the story line but also the music is familiar to the audience.

I hope you will consider rectifying this omission and give credit to Lloyd where credit is due.

LOCAL BUSINESSES SHOULD BE USED AS NEWS SOURCES

Editor:

Re: coping with cold and flu season, alternative measures.

Just in case the editor hasn't noticed my weekly business ad, you do have a Homeopathic Practitioner in your community that would have been quite happy and capable of giving comments and advice about alternative treatments for the flu and colds.

I have great respect for Sherry Ure and her work; however, it would be nice if local business would have been approached for comments.

I am sure that people in need will find me and the help they are looking for without my weekly ad, that I have decided to cancel as of now.

I grew up in a small town and my vision has always been to look around your community first before resorting to the city, it is amazing what kind of services you can find in your hometown.

INAPPROPRIATE USE OF RESTAURANT LEAST OF OSOYOOS'S WORRIES

Editor:

In response to the lady that was so amazed that a group of girls walked into a fast food café and sat down eating their own food.

Well folks, children only do what they learn at home.

But let's move to the real story.

Why did these fast food outlets move into a small town to start with, that is to skim the gravy off the tourists.

Well folks, in due time with their attitude in these troubled times, they may be lucky to see a dog let alone a group of kids.

Even real estate folks are walking about patting each other on the back.

But they haven't got a decent medical facility in relation to the units going up.

In case of an earthquake or some major event, they haven't got an escape route or plan out of this glorious valley.

They seem to be fascinated promoting alcohol, meaning wine, as their main human attraction.

I've noticed first-hand these stores haven't got a proper stool for a senior to sit down, not one of them would offer a cookie or a glass of water.

They're assuming folks to shop local, really!

Yeah, they're so concerned about some snot-nosed kid.

But we elected folks and put them on a payroll in trust.

But each day, we're reading some soap opera of events in relation to their conduct and trust.

They talk a big game!
