At its first meeting of the year on Jan. 19, Osoyoos town council met before a packed house and voted unanimously to send out a request for proposals on how to revive the Desert Park events centre.
Anarchist Mountain resident Eike Scheffler presented a rough plan for the park” a public-private partnership that would begin with investments from private shareholders and lots of volunteer hours.
He said he'd like to see the park used for equestrian training, concerts and possibly using the facility as an indoor driving range in the winter.
Council was interested in the proposal but couldn't make any commitments.
The matter of reviving Desert Park will be up for continued discussion at an upcoming Committee of the Whole meeting.
