The South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce is hosting an all-candidates forum on April 20 for the quartet of federal candidates looking to represent the BC Southern Interior electoral district.
The forum will be held in Oliver Council Chambers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Although media has been invited to attend, the forum is not open to the public.
The forum will be broadcast in real-time on Channel 18 and the public is invited to submit questions for the candidates to the chamber by email, fax or by phone.
Bonnie Dancey, the chamber’s executive director, said that since the forum will be broadcast live, people can call her cellphone as they watch the event to pass on questions for the candidates that Dancey will ask of them.
Dancey’s cellphone number is 250-498-7030.
To submit questions for the candidates, contact the chamber by emailing manager@sochamber.ca, calling 250-498-6321 or (toll free) 1-866-498-6321 or faxing 250-498-3156.
The four candidates who are running in this riding are Alex Atamanenko, a member of the NDP party who has represented the riding since 2006, Stephen Hill of the Conservative Party, Bryan Hunt of the Green Party and Shan Levall of the Liberal Party.
Dancey said the reason the forum is not open to the public is because the candidates did not have time to attend a public forum in the evening in Osoyoos-Oliver area.
There will be a public forum for the candidates the same day in Keremeos at 7 p.m. at Victory Hall on Hwy. 3.
Election Day is May 2.

One Response to “OLIVER FEDERAL CANDIDATES FORUM TO BE CLOSED TO PUBLIC”

  1. Any forum questions without a name attached should never be asked. All candidates should boycott the event or be lumped in with the creeps at the chamber of commerce or town officials that want to control the agenda. I’ll be there with my camcorder asking some tuff questions as they come to attend this farce.

Check “yellowhead speaks 1993″ on youtube. I had serious problems with the planted questions and was prepared stand up and identify the rubes and cheats.

Don’t trust any forum arranged by the Chamber or local officials they do have their own agenda.
