Driving down Main Street, it’s almost impossible not to notice the massive sign on 91 Avenue advertising the future site of the Horizon Health and Wellness Centre. It’s also hard not to notice the lack of physical progress being made on the site. But what is lacking in physical progress is certainly being made up for in planning according to Eugen Klein, principal with the Klein Group – a marketing team responsible for the centre.
“Right now we have commitments on the space. We have new retailers and medical services that have committed to the space and we are probably in the last 20 per cent of those commitments that we need to move forward with the project,” said Klein. “We are absolutely moving ahead when we have everything we need to.”
The centre is expected to be roughly 40,000 square-feet upon completion and will consist of both retail and office spaces for medical practitioners and professionals. While the sign on 91 Avenue currently advertises a completion date in the summer of 2012, Klein believes they will most likely break ground come the spring of 2012, with an occupancy taking place towards the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013.
“We’re not trying to rush,” said Klein. “We want something that’s viable for the community that’s going to create some opportunities and jobs and really speak to the services.”
