A tanker plane drops a load of red fire retardant next to a raging wildfire that threatened homes near Spotted Lake. The fire occurred Aug. 19 and was human caused. Crews from the Provincial Wildfire Management Branch, including two helicopters and five air tankers managed to contain the blaze without major damage or injury, but it took days to fully extinguish it. As they round the last bend, horses kick up dirt in the seventh and final race at Desert Park in June. After a 15-year hiatus, Desert Park reopened with two race days, one in June and the other at the end of August. Both events were well attended. (Richard McGuire file photo)

Bontorin was one of a number of youths on skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes who competed at the end of March at the Illskill Competition at the Osoyoos Skatepark.
