Participants from First Nations around the province participated in School District 53’s annual Pow Wow on Saturday in the gym at Osoyoos Secondary School.

The event rotates between the three high schools in the school district, taking place other years at Southern Okanagan Secondary School in Oliver and Similkameen Elementary Secondary School in Keremeos.

Dancers from near and far participated in the grand entry Saturday afternoon, followed by an inter-tribal dance as drums beat. Some wore very colourful and elaborate regalia, often including feathers of eagles and other birds. There was another grand entry and dancing in the evening.
